Dell ships PCs with Red Hat

Dell has announced it will start shipping OptiPlex business desktop PCs with Red Hat Linux 6.0 factory-installed, at the customer's request.

Factory-installed Red Hat Linux 6.0 is also being offered on configurations of Dell's Precision 410 workstations, the company says.

"Our intent is to make it simple for customers to have Red Hat Linux 6.0 installed, configured and tested on a Dell system," said the managing director of Dell Computer Australia, Gary Elliott.

Dell maintains and has recently expanded a Web site about the Linux operating system at http://www.dell.com/linux.
