Barnes & Noble e-mail links offer $

Include a URL link for Barnesandnoble.com in your outgoing e-mails and a 5 per cent commission could be yours under a new affiliation program launched by the online US bookstore this week.

Internet users who embed links to Barnesandnoble.com's Web site in messages to friends, family and associates could earn a 5 per cent commission on any recommended book, CD or software title bought as a result. Participants also have the option of directing their commissions to one of five charitable groups.

The company already runs an affiliation program involving Barnesandnoble.com links on participating Web sites, offering commissions of up to 7 per cent.

Similar programs exist for other e-commerce sites, notably CDNow and Amazon.com, but the potential for spam is a possible downside of this incarnation. Barnes and Noble has, though, adopted a "zero tolerance" policy for spam.

Further information on the program can be found at MybnLink.com

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
