Hitachi adds new 17in monitor

Hitachi has added a new 17in monitor to its range which it thinks will appeal to office and home users wanting to upgrade their 15in monitors for desktop publishing, spreadsheet and word processing work.

The CM-640 ($695 RRP) has a viewable area of 15.9in and offers a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 at a 67MHz refresh rate.

Super High Contrast (SHC) technology, developed by Hitachi, is used in the new entry-level model, boosting brightness and ensuring users "enjoy stunning images", says the company.

The monitor comes with a three-year on-site warranty.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
