Hacked site swims to safety

The Waterways Authority of NSW has speedily countered a benign hacker attack on its website. After being notified of the attack on Monday afternoon, the authority immediately cleared the site of illegally posted text, and undertook to step up website security.

The authority also contacted the site's internet service provider, AGR Logical.

The hacker, identifiable only as Smasher Secret, posted two messages in Spanish across the site's homepage -- roughly equating to insults -- and a disclaimer to the effect that "I (the hacker) didn't change anything else . . . just wanted to have fun with my friends".

The Waterways website provides information relating to recreational and commercial boating in New South Wales, such as basic safety requirements and arrangements for activities on Sydney Harbour during the 2000 Olympic Games.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
