FMG widens gulf between Sanity and Chaos

The expansion of Sanity.com's catalogue of digital downloads has been secured as part of a three-year deal made between Sanity.Com and the Festival Mushroom Group (FMG).

Essentially a five-year Australian deal between Sanity.com and FMG, it is exclusive only for the first three years.

As a result of the deal, ChaosMusic, Sanity.com's archrival, has threatened to cut ties with FMG.

ChaosMusic chief executive officer Rob Appel stated that "if FMG do not retract the deal, we will be forced to remove all related product from our site" and that the deal is to the "detriment of Australian music".

However, Sanity chairman Brett Blundy said "this alliance strengthens Sanity.com's position in the online retail business by giving a greater choice for our ever-widening number of consumers".
