Free home loan search

Shopping around for home loans may no longer involve a fist full of brochures and juggling appointments with the bank manager, with the launch of the Lenders Online Web site.

The company, which claims it is an independent content provider, has teamed up with Telstra BigPond services to provide the online home loan search service. Lenders who are currently involved in the service include Westpac and ANZ banks, as well as ING Mercantile Mutual, Macquarie, Trust Bank, GIO, Suncorp and Citibank.

The site asks the customers to send in simple loan criteria, such as whether they require a fixed or variable loan, and then the Lenders On Line returns information to the customer about the best loans to suit their needs.

Other free services include consumer loan news, a site outlining the top five loans, and a loan glossary to keep you abreast of financial jargon - especially important when reading the fine print.

As an introductory offer, customers will receive a $300 cashback for completing a successful application, but only until the end of June, 1999.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
