PC IT 99: Canon launches new SCSI scanner

Canon has debuted a new addition to its range of flatbed scanners, announcing the CanoScan FB620S -- a SCSI scanner featuring an optical resolution of 600 x 600dpi.

On show at PC IT 99 in Sydney this week, the CanoScan FB620S features a front-mounted button for "push-button" scanning, an Adaptec SCSI card and a sleek design -- the unit stands 6cm tall and weighs in at 2kg.

Priced at $449, the scanner comes with a bundle of software including Adobe PhotoDeluxe, OmniPage LE OCR and Canon's own Toolbox software, which lets users turn the scanner into a "push-button copier, fax or e-mail station", the company claims.

The PC IT 99 Exhibition is taking place at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, until Friday March 12.
