Fix-It Utilities 99

A new software utilities vendor has entered the Australian market with the arrival of Fix-It Utilities 99, developed by Colarado-based Mijenix.

Fit-It Utilities 99 is for Windows 95, 98 and NT, and includes a range of tools for crash protection, antivirus protection, hard disk repair and Windows Registry cleaning.

Additional tools for system monitoring, disk defragmentation and PC diagnostics (which tests hardware such as memory and the CPU), are also included.

The package has an estimated street price of $89.95, and includes another Mijenix product -- PowerDesk Utilities 98. PowerDesk Utilities normally retails at $59.95, says its distributor Software Suppliers, and provides a file manager with built-in zip and unzip, file security, folder synchronisation and an "enhanced file finder".

Fix-It Utilities 99 will be available from the beginning of May.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
