Despite speculation last week that the Australian operations of Netscape was facing closure, the company has released a statement announcing the local operation will remain open.
Local managing director Rob Stewart said senior Netscape executives regard the future of Netscape's Australian operations "extremely positive".
All 16 staff of the operation will remain.
The company could not comment though on the impact that AOL's deal will have on the local operation. AOL announced it will acquire Netscape in a transaction valued at $US4.2 billion.
