Reseller settles Microsoft antipiracy suit

Microsoft has scored yet another cheque in its fight against the sale of counterfeit software, computer retail chain Busiquip paying Microsoft $100,000 as settlement for a suit that alleged its Sydney stores sold counterfeit Windows 95 software.

Microsoft was tipped-off by consumers who used the software giant's antipiracy phone hotline, 1800 639 963.

Busiquip was fully cooperative in Microsoft's investigations, according to a statement released by Microsoft today, but the source of the counterfeit software is still being pursued.
