Epson has come to market with what it claims to be the first "out-of-the-box" printer that is USB-ready.

The Epson Stylus Color 740, which is retailing at $599, is aimed at the SOHO market and offers 1440 x 720 dpi printing.

The Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection means customers can plug the printer into a PC (with a USB port) or the iMac, Epson says, and it will be configured automatically. The new inkjet also includes parallel and Mac Serial ports.
