3M adds multipoint meeting to videoconferencing

3M Australia says its VCS3100 Multi-Point (MP) videoconferencing system is for "organisations wishing to extend their remote meeting capabilities beyond standard point-to-point ISDN videoconferencing".

The system provides in-built four-point conferencing capabilities without requiring the purchase of a multipoint control unit. In voice-activated mode, all four sites view the person speaking; in continuous presence mode, the screen is broken into four quadrants, allowing participants to be viewed simultaneously.

Other features are automatic voice tracking, automatic picture in picture and built-in Web server.

The 3M VCS3100 MP will be available in the 4th quarter at a suggested retail price of less than $30,000. For further information or to arrange a demo call 1800 020 320 or visit http://www.3m.com/meetings/ams

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
