Brother's new laser printers

Brother International has boosted its range of laser printers with the HL-1040, HL-1050 and the HL-1070. All three models feature a 10 pages per minute engine.

The HL-1040 has true 600dpi resolution, while the other two models print at 1200dpi. The HL-1040 has 2MB of memory, while the other models sport 4MB, upgradable to 36MB with industry standard SIMMs. The HL-1050/1070 models also have a USB port in addition to the standard parallel interface and optional Apple interface.

All models have a 200 sheet input tray plus a manual tray. The HL-1070 has a second 200-sheet bin.

The HL-1040 has PCL 4 standard printer language, plus PCL 5e software included, while the HL-1050/1070 models have PCL 6 compatibility. There is also PostScript 2 emulation on the HL-1070 model.
