Gateway launches new portable

Gateway has unveiled a sleek new desktop replacement notebook -- the Solo 9300, a light-weight model with high-end multimedia features, says the company.

The Gateway Solo 9300XL starts at $4699, incorporating Intel Pentium II processors in speeds of 333MHz, 366MHz or 400MHz; a 15in XGA TFT screen; an ATI Rage Mobility-P 3D graphics accelerator with 8MB of SGRAM; and a DVD-ROM drive. The notebook also features CD/DVD-ROM controls along its front edge.

Gateway is also offering a 366MHz Celeron-based notebook, the Solo 9300LS, with prices starting at $4399. The standard Solo 9300LS notebook includes a 14.1in display, 10x CD-ROM drive, 6.4GB removable hard drive and an ATI Rage Mobility-P 3D graphics accelerator.
