Gateway is claiming a first with its Intel Pentium Xeon-based home PC, "the ultimate PC for enthusiasts".

The GX-450 sports plenty of multimedia features: digital sound card (SoundBlaster Audio PCI 64D) and digital speakers (Boston Acoustic); 16MB AGP nVidia Riva TNT graphics; 19in monitor; CD-RW drive and DVD-ROM III drive.

Other specs are: Intel 450MHz Pentium II Xeon processor; 512K level 2 cache; 128MB SDRAM; 14.4GB Ultra ATA hard drive; full tower case; 56K V.90 fax modem; Windows 98; Microsoft Office 97, Small Business Edition; lifetime technical support; 3-year Gateway desktop warranty.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
