Eidos has recently announced ShellShock: Nam '67, a first-person action game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. You take on the role a rookie soldier fresh from basic training, and face the North Vietnamese, Viet Cong guerillas across farmlands, jungles and villages. The game brings to life everything Nam was notorious for: booby traps, tunnel passageways, and deadly ambushes.
Missions vary from large-scale battles to stealth missions. You progress from a regular "grunt" to a member of the Special Forces, with later missions having you assassinate a VC general.
"With ShellShock: Nam '67, we are aiming to deliver a game that really provides as authentic a war experience as possible," says Hermen Hulst, managing director of Guerrilla. "Through extensive research on all topics, but also by not shying away from the more controversial aspects of war, we are looking to provide gamers with the closest thing to actually being there."
ShellShock: Nam '67 is slated for a June 2004 release in the US.
