If you regularly jot down meeting information or fill out forms, and being able to digitally archive them sounds interesting, take note.

The ACECAD DigiMemo A501 looks like a clipboard but does much more.

Begin by writing on a paper pad (up to 12mm thick and A5 size is supported) with the supplied digital inking pen and the DigiMemo underneath saves the text or drawings to 8MB of in-built storage or to an optional CompactFlash card. The DigiMemo and the pen's own sensor triangulate what you write to output what in our tests, proved to be quite an accurate result.

A small monochrome LCD window located on the left-hand side of the DigiMemo also relays data for page numbers and page contents. Buttons directly underneath are used to navigate, delete and insert new pages.

Once you have finished writing on a page of paper, connect the DigiMemo via USB to a PC to transfer the pages across. Text or diagrams are saved as a JPG and BMP images or a text-editable e-Book/digital page can be created within the ACECAD proprietary software. We found the software easy to use, but limited by the fact that other parties need the ACECAD software to read e-Book or digital pages.
