Grisoft releases security suite beta

Grisoft announced Tuesday a public beta of AVG Internet Security 7.5, which includes antivirus, antispyware, antispam, and firewall components. The beta marks Grisoft's first full-fledged consumer internet security suite, which is scheduled for launch on October 2. Pricing has not yet been announced.

While not a major revamp of antivirus and antispyware components, the suite has a unified interface and installation process.

Grisoft says scanning engines and heuristics, the ability to detect new malware based on similarity to previous samples, have been improved. Grisoft will upgrade the popular AVG Free Edition to the 7.5 version though possibly not by the October 2 launch date. The antispam component is a first for Grisoft, although the company didn't provide details about it.
