IFA - Philips offers versatile music player

With eye on the huge market for portable music players, Koninklijke Philips Electronics has built a new player with a sensory touch pad, a scrolling navigation system and an optional docking station to work with the company's Streamium wireless music system.
The GoGear SA9200 portable music player, unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, plays standard MP3 and Windows Media DRM10 files. It will be available innitially in 1G-byte and 2G-byte flash versions.
The player features Philips' backlit sensory touch pad for controlling functions and its SuperScroll navigation system. The system allows users to tap, drag and swipe a finger along the touch-sensitive strip to navigate through their library of songs and photos.
An optional docking station allows the GoGear music player to connect with Philips' Streamium wireless music system, introduced at last year's IFA. The system can connect up to five stations via Wi-Fi technology.
The 1G-byte version, the SA9100, has a suggested retail price of Euro 149 and the 2G-byte version, the SA9200, a suggested price of Euro 199.
Both are due to ship in the coming weeks.
