A special edition Xbox360, adorned with autographs from the Halo 3 development team at Bungie Studios, has skyrocketed past $24,000 in an online charity auction hosted on eBay.

With only 22 hours remaining on the auction, the Konsoles for Kids charity has already attracted over 70 bids and is well on its way to pass the $25,000 mark.

The winner of the auction will receive the Xbox 360 console, exclusively customised with Halo artwork, an Xbox 360 wireless controller, an Xbox 360 20 gig hard-drive, an Xbox 360 Media Remote and Xbox Live Silver membership. Its total retail value is $649.00.

The Konsoles for Kids charity auction, which has been running since March 23 with one Xbox being auctioned per week, has featured a bevy of customised Xbox 360 consoles each emblazoned with airbrushed designs of Australian sporting heroes and TV celebrities.

Some of the already auctioned consoles have included artworks and autographs of world champion swimmer, Ian Thorpe; King Kong director Peter Jackson; Russell Crowe; and former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins.

Unfortunately, the heavily Australiana-themed consoles haven't attracted the same furore as the Halo 3 Xbox 360, with the majority of autographed consoles selling for less than their retail price. Unsurprisingly, one of the lowest selling consoles, was that of Australian daytime TV presenter, Kerri-Anne Kennerly, which fetched a measly $535.

In addition to the money raised on eBay, Microsoft Australia will donate $1000 to Make-A-Wish for every customised Xbox 360 console that falls under the virtual hammer.

So far the auction has raised $20,250. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At time of writing, the Halo 3 Xbox360 was sitting on $24,300.
