Similar to PVRs, the future of HDD/DVD technology in the living room is going to be about hard disk size and increased integration with other home entertainment products, such as media streamers. This will make a huge difference to the appeal of HDD/DVD recorders, and also give them the edge over PVRs. Eventually high definition recorders will reach the market, but these are likely to do away with the DVD component, instead opting for Blu-ray and HD-DVD compatible models.
