Software lets Skype customers record conversations

ExtraLabs software similar to Ecamm Network offering

A new program developed by a Russian software company allows Skype users to record their phone conversations and save them on their computer as digital multimedia files.

ExtraLabs Software, based in Moscow, released its Skype Recorder v.1.2 for download on its Web site. The company describes the recorder as an easy-to-use tool that can "record Skype calls automatically."

According to ExtraLabs, the program will start recording phone calls the minute you begin talking through Skype. After your call is finished, it will then convert the call to a digital file of the user's choosing, be it MP3, WMA, OGG or WAV. The recorder operates on all versions of Windows -- from 95 through Vista -- and on all versions of Skype.

"We have been engaged in the development of RSS and Skype technologies for five years already and we know what our customers need," says Andy Cheiney, the head of the marketing department at ExtraLabs.

The Skype recorder is available on ExtraLabs' Web site for US$13.96 for a single computer license.

ExtraLabs' Skype recorder is just one of several similar programs available for download. Others programs include the Ecamm Call Recorder, which sells for US$14.95; the PowerGramo Skype Recorder, which doubles as an answering machine and is available for free download; and the Super Tintin Skype Recorder, which runs on Windows 2000 and XP and costs US$24.95.

ExtraLabs sells several other programs on its Web site, including an RSS Feed Editor, an RSS Content Generator and a "News Screensaver" that "allows you to always have the most recent news, weather forecasts and stock quotes on your computer screen."

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.
