Crazy John's accused of crazy pricing

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has accused mobile phone retailer, Crazy John's, of deceptive or misleading conduct in relation to mobile phone promotions.
The watchdog has alleged Crazy John's misled customers by marketing handsets on Crazy Phone Plans as available 'Free' or for '$0', then charging higher call rates than comparable plans that do not include a handset.
The ACCC claims this contravenes sections 52 and 53 of the Trade Practices Act that state a corporation must not engage in conduct that is likely to mislead or deceive and must not make false or misleading representation of the price of goods and services.
The ACCC is seeking declarations regarding the conduct and corrective advertising through the Victorian courts. A scheduling conference has been provisionally set down for the February 29.
