iPhone/iPod to get unlimited iTunes downloads

iPod and iPhone users could be offered unlimited downloads from Apple's iTunes Store if they pay extra when they buy their device.
The Financial Times reports that Apple feels customers are willing to pay up to $US100 extra for their iPod or iPhone if they were given unlimited access to the iTunes library for the "lifetime of the device".
Apple is also considering a second unlimited downloads package for iPhone users that would see an $US8 fee add to their monthly bills. Users would still be allowed to keep "40 or 50" tracks per year, even after their subscription has lapsed.
Apple is currently discussing the deal, which would work in the same way as Nokia's 'Come with Music' service, which was signed in December last year with the music industry. However, it is believed that Apple is only prepared to offer pay the music industry $US20 per device, while Nokia is believed to be giving the labels $US80 per device.
