Blu-ray camcorder media hits the streets

Protective coating a standard feature

TDK Life on Record has expanded its range of Blu-ray removable media with the release of 8cm, single-sided, 7.5GB capacity camcorder media in both recordable and re-writable formats offering up to 60 minutes of full HD recording.

TDK Life on Record's marketing and communications manager, Bree McKenzie, said the company's Blu-ray media can handle the "rigours and demands" of camcorder use without the threat of damage and loss of recorded material.

"The launch of Blu-ray camcorder media is significant in today's high definition environment and for TDK Life on Record it's [the] first to meet the market's demand for HD data storage media for BD Camcorders," McKenzie said.

"The new BD camcorder range means precious video content can be captured in digital HD and safely stored for future viewing. Only TDK can guarantee maximum reliability and archival lifespan of their media thanks to the advantage of DURABIS, a revolutionary protective coating which is a standard feature of all Blu-ray media produced by the company."

McKenzie is confident Blu-ray will replace conventional DVD globally, and said the format growing rapidly in Japan where it now has an 18 percent share of the home media market.

The write once media are $39.95 and the re-writable are $49.95 each.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
