Toshiba's TLP-S10 tackles the competition head on with a $2099 price tag. Cheap it may be, but the TLP-S10 is still feature-packed. At 2.2kg it's the most lightweight model in its price range and has a brightness rating of 1200 ANSI lumens.
The TLP-S10 isn't the quietest of projectors, although its 36dB of fan noise isn't very irritating. It has an eco mode, allowing you to sacrifice a modicum of brightness in order to cut the fan noise to a near-inaudible hum. The eco mode also extends lamp life by as much as 100 per cent.
Resolution support is restricted to 800x600 (SVGA), although few projectors around this price can better this. No digital connector is included although, again, this is in keeping with the competition. The projector is equipped with a more than adequate menu system and setting it up is straightforward. The Toshiba performs well and, although the colour palette lacks overall depth, the picture is clear and focused. In particular, the TLP-S10 is great at generating clean text output. It works well with video playback and its 16:9 widescreen support is an asset. The TLP- S10 performs extremely well, and it's perfect for going on the road.
