Optus launches 3G home, shop security product
Will allow Optus customers to view camera footage in real time via 3G handsets.

Optus today launched a live video monitoring service for its SME and home user 3G mobile customers.

The company's new SecureCam service will allow around-the-clock access to video footage from private IP cameras on compatible 3G mobile handsets or via the Internet.

Optus claims the service is easier and cheaper to set up and maintain than traditional security solutions.

Customers will be able to elect to receive SMS notification whenever motion has been detected by the SecureCam system.

The wireless IP cameras can also be controlled via the handsets or internet application.
