Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, EA, Xbox 360 win E3 awards

The Game Critics Awards on Tuesday announced their "Best of Show" winners of E3 2008.

As decided by a panel of more than 30 press outlets, Fallout 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) won the "Best of Show" award and "Best RPG" game.

LittleBigPlanet (PS3) earned the award for "Best Console Game" and miscellaneous honours as the "Best Social/Casual/Puzzle Game."

In terms of publishers, Electronic Arts came up big in the eyes of GCA judges with five wins, followed by Sony with three, and Bethesda with two.

Xbox 360 games won 11 separate awards, followed by PS3 and PC with seven apiece. Despite dominating sales headlines over the last two years, Nintendo Wii and DS went bust on awards, due in part to the critics admitted bias towards mature games coupled with Nintendo's poor first-party showing at E3 this year.

The full list of winners, all of which had to be playable at E3, are as follows:

Best of Show: Fallout 3

Best Original Game: Mirror's Edge

Best Console Game: LittleBigPlanet

Best PC Game: Spore

Best Handheld Game: Resistance: Retribution

Best Hardware/Peripheral: Rock Band 2

Best Action Game: Gears of War 2

Best Action/Adventure Game: Dead Space

Best Role Playing Game: Fallout 3

Best Racing Game: Pure

Best Sports Game: Madden NFL 09

Best Fighting Game: Street Fighter IV

Best Strategy Game: Tom Clancy's EndWar

Best Social/Casual/Puzzle: LittleBigPlanet

Best Online Multiplayer: Left 4 Dead
