If you need wireless broadband, but don’t have a PC card to slot in a modem, Vodafone’s new USB Internet Stick mobile broadband service might be what you’re looking for.

Vodafone’s new USB Internet Stick plugs in to any Mac or PC USB port for “plug and play” broadband Internet connection.

The USB stick comes pre-loaded with network connection software that is automatically installed on the PC.

Vodafone’s mobile broadband plans start from $19.95 per month for 1GB of data.

With a MicroSD slot capable of holding a memory card up to 4GB capacity the USB stick can also be used as a flash memory drive.

Vodafone Australia’s head of consumer data, Helen Tuffy, said the Internet Stick is an alternative to fixed line ADSL. “The Vodafone Internet Stick is a cost-effective and convenient broadband solution, giving Australians the freedom to ditch their landline and stay connected at home and on the move,” Tuffy said.

The USB device operates at 7.2Mbps on Vodafone’s 3G (HSPA) broadband network.
