A year after Microsoft released a keypad attachment for Xbox 360 controllers, Sony will do the same for PS3 to combat clunky typing and ready gamers for the text-enabled Home service.
The new peripheral, officially named the Wireless Keypad, will be available in November to coincide with the beta release of PlayStation Home, Sony's robust answer to Xbox Live and Second Life.
The keypad is designed to fit snugly atop of either Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controllers and can be easily removed. It connects via the controllers USB port.
In addition to superior texting, the Wireless Keyboard features a Touch Pad Button for mouse-like control.
Titles confirmed to support in-game text chat include LittleBigPlanet and Home. Sony did not reveal pricing.
