NSW Library photo archives to be uploaded to Flickr
NSW State Library partners with Flickr tol upload photos from its extensive collection on to the image sharing site.
The State Library of NSW has partnered with Flickr to provide unprecedented community access to its extensive archive of photographs.
This is the first ever partnership between Flickr and an an Australian library.
100 images have initially been made available, and can be viewed here.
Among them are in image of Australia's first commercially produced amphibious car - the German Amphicar; photos from the first Australiasian Antarctic Expedition and shots from the opening of the Harbour Bridge.
And a special category, 'Australian Women's firsts' celebrates the accomplishments of famous and notable Australian females.
More images will be added on a regular basis.

Partnerships between Flickr and Australian Libraries
This is a great collection of images that the State Library of New South Wales has added to Flickr. However, I'd like to mention that Picture Australia demonstrates a Flickr partnership with an Australian Library that I'm sure predates the SLNSW. Picture Australia is a National Library of Australia project in which they partnered with Flickr to allow members of the public to contribute photographs to the Picture Australia collection. This wonderful resource includes image collections not only of individual Flickr members, but also over 40 libraries and museums.
