EA confirms Spore expansion packs
Creepy & Cute Parts Pack

EA confirmed Monday that two Spore expansion packs were planned for the life-creation sim title, and will be available over the next few months.

The first expansion, called the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, will be released on November 18. The expansion will add 100 or so new parts to the wildly popular Creature Creator in two fairly obvious categories: cute and creepy. The pack is available for both the full game and the Creature Creator.

Then in Spring 2009, EA will follow that expansion up with a new Space stage. The addendum will allow players to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life, and new civilisations (although not Sid Meier's)--just like Star Trek.

Players will also have access to an Adventure Creator, which does just what it sounds like. Using the creator, players will be able to craft their own adventures, which they can share with other players online.

There was no word today, unsurprisingly, on whether or not EA's far-reaching DRM practices would make it into these expansions, as they did with Spore.
