Activision Tuesday released its first official statement regarding scattered reports of Guitar Hero: World Tour drum kit sensitivity issues.

Calling the reports an "isolated incident," the publisher will nevertheless offer affected drum kit owners a "tuning kit" to fix the problem. There was no word yet on just how World Tour owners will secure the kit, or what, exactly, the kit will entail, but early reports hint it will probably be some kind of calibration tool.

The drum kit complaints began almost immediately after World Tour's launch last Sunday. Various message board posts claimed that the kit's velocity sensitive drum pads were not registering hits from the drum sticks. The problems were platform agnostic, in that they affected all three major console releases. A similar issue also struck the original Rock Band drum kit in 2007.

The full statement from Activision customer support is as follows:

"We have learned that certain drum kit controllers manufactured for Guitar Hero World Tour have sensitivity issues. We believe that these controllers are limited to ones in the earlier manufacturing stages. While we believe that this was an isolated manufacturing issue, we are stepping our efforts to randomly test our drum kit controllers so customers can be assured they work properly. In the event any consumers do experience problems with their drum kit controllers associated with sensitivity issues, Activision will soon be offering a drum tuning kit that will enable players to fully optimize their drums.

"Our goal would be to immediately address any hardware issues Guitar Hero World Tour players have with the game.
