Unisys scores Railcorp security contract
Staff, contractors authenticate with personal details

RailCorp will deploy a new identity verification system to regulate access to its human resources services pending results of a pilot.

The Java-based system will plug into RailCorp's Mincom Ellipse HR system, network access repository, and its First Priority Enterprise risk and compliance platform. It will store personal and work-related data on staff, contractors and suppliers in a central repository to frame its access rights policies.

RailCorp ICT group general manager Vicki Coleman said the system will help manage the organisation's staff and long-term contractor base.

“It [is] essential to have a robust system for managing access to our critical business applications, particularly given our large long-term employee and contractor-base,” Coleman said in a written statement.

“The solution will introduce greater rigour into the lifecycle management of who is authorised to access these applications.”

The pilot, expected to be completed in December, is the latest Railcorp contract handed to Unisys following a May roll out of EMC's Documentum Enterprise Content Management system which was deployed under a project to centralise front-end applications within a centralised Web portal.
