Sharp releases new LCD TV D77X series

New LCD televisions have striking blue styling, 100Hz motion smoothing and a 50000:1 contrast ratio

Sharp has announced the release of a new range of LCD televisions with the introduction of the D77X series. These televisions offer a good mix of price and performance, featuring 100Hz motion smoothing, a 50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a new LCD panel designed to deliver maximum image quality.

The cornerstone of the D77X series is the introduction of a new “Super Lucent” LCD panel, designed to resist display degradation over time and emphasise fine image detail. The D77X series also incorporates features seen in previous Sharp LCD panels such as 100Hz Fine Motion Advanced motion smoothing, SRS TruSurround XT speakers, 24p support and AQUOS Link to control connected Sharp HDMI devices.

The Sharp LC32D77X is the smallest LCD television model available from the range, with a retail price of $1999. While 40-inch and 46-inch models are available for $2999 and $3799 respectively, the premium television of the series is the 52-inch LC52D77X with a recommended price of $4999.

What is meant by 'display degradation over time'?
Dead pixels?
Do they mean >3 yrs, past the 3 yr warranty, or what.
