The end of the financial year is often a great time to grab a bargain. The global economic crisis has resulted in more companies than ever trying to notch up sales figures. We've scoured online retailers to find the best prices on some of the great monitors that have passed through our test centre.

Philips Brilliance 240PW9EB

Star rating: 4.25 stars
Original RRP: $999
We spotted it for: $804

With dynamic contrast, good image quality and the ability to rotate the screen, this 24in LCD monitor was worth considering at $999. Now that it's $804 you can use your Rudd money and still have change left over!

BenQ E2200HD

Star rating: 4.25 stars
Original RRP: $319
We spotted it for: $238

This 21.5in widescreen monitor has a Full HD resolution, HDMI connectivity and HDCP compatibility. It was excellent value for money at $319, but it's smoking hot at $238.

Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM

Star rating: 4.5 stars
Original RRP: $899
We spotted it for: $529

Samsung's SyncMaster 2493HM has very deep blacks and handles motion well. It also boasts a native resolution of 1920x1080 and HDMI connectivity, so it suits movie watching, gaming and everyday computer use. Although some outlets were selling the Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM at $477, they are all out of stock — but you can bag yourself one for just $529.

Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM

Star rating: 4.5 stars
Original RRP: $899
We spotted it for: $592

The Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM is a 26in monitor with a 5ms response time, so it's great for gamers. There's also very little ghosting or trailing, and the $592 price tag makes it a fantastic buy.

ViewSonic VX2260wm

Star rating: 4.5 stars
Original RRP: $379
We spotted it for: $295

The ViewSonic VX2260wm is a 21.5in widescreen monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080 and built-in speakers. With many retail outlets pricing it below $300, it's an absolute bargain and a good compromise between cost and performance.
