Sony announces ultra-slim VPL-MX20 business projector

Sony M Series projector has a laptop-like design

Sony has announced the release of a new portable projector aimed at business professionals. The Sony VPL-MX20 combines a super-thin design with high brightness levels.

This M Series Sony projector has been designed to look like a modern notebook PC. It's 45mm tall and weighs 1.7kg. “The VPLMX20 is a strong combination of some of Sony’s key projector technologies that can be easily applied across a number of presentation applications", said Sony Australia's Vincent Bautista. "The portability, top-end picture reproduction and user features will make the VPLMX20 one of the most appealing data projectors for those presenting on the road."

The Sony VPL-MX20 uses a 3LCD projection system, with a proprietary Sony BrightEra panel. The VPL-MX20 has a rated brightness of 2500 lumens and Sony states that it does not suffer from any colour break-up or rainbow effect.

The Sony VPL-MX20 will be available from mid-April with pricing yet to be announced.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
