Skype opens online shop in Australia

Skype today announced that Australians can use its online shop

Skype today announced that Australian consumers can now use the Skype Online Shop.

The Skype Online Shop enables people to purchase a range of Skype-certified hardware that can be shipped directly to them. Users can also purchase Skype credit and Skype subscriptions through the store.

According to Skype, every item has passed Skype’s "quality and performance certification tests".

"We are excited to extend the Skype shop to Australia and make available to our users Skype Certified accessories which can enhance their user experience by broadening how and where they use Skype," said Dan Neary of Skype.

“This further illustrates our commitment to our users, providing them with a richer Skype experience and allowing them to continue their Skype conversations wherever they are.”

Users of the Skype Online Shop can also find the best deal and are able to shop from their preferred merchant. The Skype Online Shop stocks a range of products including wireless headsets, phones, webcams (such as the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000), headphones and other accessories such as the Polycom Communicator speakerphone.

Skype has stated that more products will be added to the online store. Users of Skype's 4.0 client for Windows can access the online shop from within Skype itself by clicking on the "shop" tab; users of the Mac version of Skype are out of luck for now, however.
