Vodafone launches Visual Voicemail for iPhone

A first for Australian iPhone 3G customers

Vodafone's Visual Voicemail service

Vodafone Australia has become the first mobile network in Australia to offer the visual voicemail feature for customers with an iPhone 3G.

The Visual Voicemail application allows iPhone 3G users to see who has left a voicemail message and the time they left it, eliminating the need to listen to messages in the order that they were left. Vodafone users can save up to 20 Visual Voicemail messages on their iPhone.

The feature was previously not available in Australia, despite being a core feature of the original iPhone when it was first launched in the US in 2007.

"Vodafone is thrilled to be launching this Australian-first application to Vodafone iPhone 3G customers," said Edward Goff of Vodafone Australia. "Our iPhone 3G customers will no longer have to trawl through all their voicemails to get to the ones they want to hear."

All current Vodafone iPhone 3G customers will have access to the Visual Voicemail application by Friday 29 May. Vodafone will progressively notify iPhone customers via text messages alerting them to the new service.

Activating the Visual Voicemail feature is done by syncing your iPhone, checking for updates in iTunes and then turning the phone off and on. Tapping the voicemail button in the contacts menu should then open the Visual Voicemail screen. Messages are displayed in a simple list format and are sorted by date and time. Touching a message will play it back, and users can even skip messages completely.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
