ABC switches on digital radio services
Metropolitan areas get government-broadcast digital radio stations

Pure digital radios on display at the ABC's launch of its digital radio stations.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation switched on its digital radio services yesterday in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.
Simulcasts of existing ABC Radio stations, such as the youth-oriented Triple J and news-focused ABC NewsRadio, are now taking place on both digital and analog spectrums.
Three new music stations are also available — ABC DiG Music, ABC Jazz and ABC Country — bringing the total number of stations up to 13.
The start-up of the new stations was celebrated with an event featuring performances from Australian artists Sarah Blasko, Paul Grabowsky and Jasmine Rae.
