Palm Pre webOS 1.1.0 available, fixes iTunes sync

Remember when Apple updated iTunes to version 8.2.1, breaking syncing with the Palm Pre? Well, that feature is back, along with loads of other stuff.

Remember when Apple updated iTunes to version 8.2.1, breaking syncing with the Palm Pre? Well, that feature is back, along with loads of other stuff.

Palm has just released webOS 1.1.0, and the changelog is extensive. In addition to " Resolves an issue preventing media sync from working with latest version of iTunes (8.2.1)" you'll find other gems like:

A new NFL Mobile Live application.

Tweaks to the Calendar, Contacts, and Camera apps.

Support for new Exchange ActiveSync Policies (including Remote Wipe).

Emoticon support in text, multimedia, and IMs.

A new forward-swipe gesture.

...and quite a few other refinements. Will Apple and Palm enter into the same vicious cycle of break-it / fix-it that instant messaging applications and protocols did for years, or can we all just learn to get along? Apple, the ball's in your court.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
