A new digital SLR camera will join Canon's line-up in October with the release of the EOS 7D. The Canon EOS 7D is capable of capturing 18-megapixel still images as well as shooting video at a Full HD (1080p) resolution. According to Canon, the camera is the "best all-rounder in the EOS range".

"With the introduction of this brand new EOS product line, Canon is responding to consumer demand for an enthusiast-level DSLR that is packed with all the best features," said Canon's EOS Brand Manager, Chris Macleod. "The perfect all-rounder, the EOS 7D can go anywhere and capture anything, while letting users expand their creative control. It’s the perfect camera for shooting a creative portrait, sports match, night scene, or even recording all three in Full HD video."

The camera offers Live View (with a 3in LCD), face detection, eight frames per second shooting, 18-point autofocus and dual DiG!C 4 image processors.
