At an event held in a Lamborghini showroom in Sydney today, V8 Supercars Australia announced a partnership that will see eight V8 Supercars appearing in the upcoming Forza Motorsport 3, exclusively on the Xbox 360 gaming console.

Four VE Holden Commodore and four FG Ford Falcon V8 Supercars are included, with modelling and graphics accurate for the 2009 season. The Holden stable features cars from Toll Racing, Garry Rogers Motorsport, Supercheap Auto Racing and Sprint Gas Racing. Ford fans will be able to drive cars from Team Vodafone, Ford Performance Racing, Stone Brothers Racing and Britek Motorsport.

Drivers from the teams, including Mark Winterbottom and Garth Tander, were present for the announcement. The drivers drove hot laps on a playable build of the game using V8 Supercars on the Iberian International Circuit. No information on the possible inclusion of any Australian race tracks was available, although Australian fans at the ForzaMotorsport forums are keen for tracks such as Bathurst and the 2009 season’s new Sydney 500 track at Sydney Olympic Park to be featured in the game.

The official Australian release date for Forza Motorsport 3 is 22 October, a fortnight after the V8 Supercars’ Bathurst 1000 race weekend. No information on the release of a demo of the game was available.

UPDATE: On its Twitter page, game developer Turn10 Studios has stated that the Bathurst track would not be included in the game's release.
