Epson launches new home theatre projectors
New projectors boast boosted contrast levels but retain the prices of older models

Epson Australia yesterday unveiled three new projectors, replacing its current home entertainment line-up.

The Epson EH-TW3500 replaces the EH-TW3000 home theatre projector. The new EH-TW3500 uses the same 3LCD technology as the old model, but its contrast ratio is doubled to 36000:1. Light output remains 1800 lumens.

The mid-level EH-TW4000 also gets an upgrade in the form of the EH-TW4500. It has a slightly lower lumen count of 1600 than the Epson EH-TW3500, and a 200,000:1 contrast ratio.

The range-topping EH-TW5500 has the same basic brightness and contrast specifications as the EH-TW4500, adding ISF calibration for enthusiast installations. An optional anamorphic lens can be purchased to scale the image to a 2.35:1 ratio — similar to that of a cinema screen — while a boosted warranty gives three years of protection to both the projector and its lamp. It replaces the Epson EH-TW5000 home theatre projector.

The Epson EH-TW3500 is available for purchase now, while the EH-TW4500 and EH-TW5500 will be available from November.
