Japanese laptop maker Kohjinsha is getting ready to ship a laptop that packs dual 10.1-inch LCD screens.

The Dual Display PC, which was on display at the Ceatec exhibition in Chiba, Japan, is based on a 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 processor from Advanced Micro Devices and will go on sale in Japan before the end of the year. The laptop should cost roughly US$800, the company said, adding plans to sell the laptop outside Japan have yet to be finalized.

The standout feature of the laptop are the twin 10.1-inch screens. One screen hides behind the other and when the laptop is open, they two screens can be pulled out so sit side by side. The aim is to pack as much screen real estate into a small form factor, Kohjinsha said.

Other specifications of the laptop include up to 4GB of RAM, support for 802.11n wireless networks, Bluetooth 2.0, and a television tuner.

The Dual Display PC wasn't the only new Kohjinsha device on display at Ceatec. The company also showed off its PA series pocket computer, which will hit the market later this year. Based on a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, the PA series will run Windows XP. The small computer has a 4.8-inch LCD screen, a QWERTY keyboard, 512MB of RAM and a 32GB solid-state drive. It will be priced at around $700, the company said.
