Trouble with Twitter: Stream timeline frozen
Microblogging site reports that 'many' users are suffering through delayed tweets

Twitter is suffering a status update freeze this afternoon.

Twitter confirmed the problem early this afternoon, noting that users can post tweets to be published on their own stream but updates from Twitterers that they follow aren't showing up.

Users have reported that the last tweet going up in their stream was between 10 and 11 a.m. EDT today.

The microblogging site said that the problem affects "many" users and that engineers there are working on it. "We are currently investigating a problem causing many users' timelines to be delayed," the company noted.

There was no indication when Twitter expects the problem to be fixed.

At least one West Coast user reported at 1:50 p.m. (EDT) this afternoon that his feed was moving along without interruption.
