HP last night introduced its ENVY notebooks to the Australian market. The ENVY range of notebooks will be available from 22 October and consists of a 13.1in model and a 15.6in one. The notebooks will be available in different configurations.
The ENVY range is aimed at users who appreciate style as well as performance. Both models are constructed from aluminium and magnesium alloy and they have etched metal palm rests. Battery life is also emphasised in the ENVY products, with the 13.1in model boasting a life of up to 18 hours when using the optional Slim Fit Extended Life battery. This battery is slim, as its name suggests, and can be attached to the bottom of the laptop, slightly increasing its overall thickness.
The 13.1in ENVY will be available with a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra-low Voltage (ULV) or Consumer Ultra-low Voltage (CULV) CPUs, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics adapter, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive or a 160GB solid-state drive (SSD), a 410 nit (the brightness rating) screen — which HP claims is the brightest screen in its class — and a built-in DVD burner.
HP ENVY 13.1in
The 13.1in ENVY with 250GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM will cost $3199, while the 13.1in ENVY with 160GB SSD and 3GB of RAM will cost $3799.
The 15.6in ENVY will be much more powerful, boasting an Intel Core i7 CPU and up to 8GB of RAM (though is has four SO-DIMM slots and will be able to accommodate a total capacity of 16GB) using the 64-bit version of Windows 7. It will feature an ATI Mobility Radeon 4830 graphics adapter and will be available with a Full HD, 300 nit display or a HD display. It will also be able to take a Slim Fit Extended Life battery, and will have a built-in DVD burner. Fast storage will also be a feature of the 15.5in ENVY, which will be available with a 7200rpm, 500GB hard drive.
HP ENVY 15.6in
The 15.6in ENVY with 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM will cost $2799, while the 8GB version will cost $3299.
