Aliph today launched the Jawbone Prime Bluetooth headset in Australia
Californian mobile accessories company AliphCom today launched its range of Bluetooth headsets in Australia — the flagship Jawbone Prime and Jawbone 2.
Previously only available in the US, France, Germany, Norway and Canada, the Jawbone Prime Bluetooth headset is widely regarded as one of the best on the market thanks to its "NoiseAssassin" technology. According to Aliph, the patented NoiseAssassin technology was originally developed for use by the US military.
The Jawbone Prime uses a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) to distinguish the sound of your voice from ambient noise, and then uses digital signal processing (DSP) to remove the noise. A form of bone conduction, the VAS is a small plastic bulb that sits against your jaw and detects the frequencies of your voice.
At the launch, Aliph sales director Serge Kossi demonstrated the Jawbone Prime Bluetooth headset by holding a mobile phone conversation while standing next to a running blender, and then next to an iPod speaker dock blaring loud music. A similar demo at a construction site can be seen on Aliph's Web site.
The entry-level Jawbone 2 ($109) and the flagship Jawbone Prime ($159) are available now. The Jawbone Prime comes in a range of basic (matte black, satin brown, platinum) and "Earcandy" (red, yellow, green, purple) colours.
Aliph's Jawbone products are currently sold at Dick Smith, Telstra and Optus retail stores, Leading Edge Telecoms, Telechoice and a range of independent mobile phone retailers. Aliph also confirmed the Jawbone Prime headset would soon be sold in Apple's retail and online stores.

The earloop on my jawbone has fallen apart after 1 month. I went back to the telstra dealer at Mirrabooka in Perth and i was told that there was nothing they could do about it and that i had to contact Jawbone support. Well guess what..........they are in the UK. Imagine selling Jawbone in Australia with no back up plan here.
Guess which headset I will not be buying in the future
