Seven's TiVo gets more storage, video on demand
New 320GB model is the same price as the original 160GB TiVo HD

From 1 December, a TiVo HD set-top box will be available with a 320GB hard drive for $699. The original 160GB model will have its price cut by $100 to $599. The TiVo's distributor, Hybrid Television Services, is owned by the Seven Media Group which runs Australia's Channel Seven television network.

In addition, the 320GB model will be supplied with a Home Networking kit free of charge until 31 January; the kit retails for $199. The Home Networking kit allows TiVo users to transfer their video recordings to external devices like iPods.

The TiVo HD set-top box was criticised at launch for its small internal hard drive compared to competing digital television recorders.

Also from 1 December, the TiVo gains access to the company's proprietary video content portal, CASPA On-Demand. The portal provides new release and older movies, television shows, music videos, full concerts and artist interviews with both free and pay-per-view content available. Over 1000 hours of video will be available at launch. Additional content will continue to be added, with advertiser-supported free video becoming available from Q2 next year.
