Interactive FIFA World Cup qualifiers come to Sydney

Gamers and sports fans unite! Sydney’s Royal Easter show will launch one of 10 worldwide qualifying events for the 2010 Interactive FIFA World Cup.
Kicking-off (virtually, of course) on 1 April and running to 14 April, the FIFA, EA SPORTS, and PlayStation sponsored event will see football and gaming fanatics try their hand at representing Australia in the Grand Final. Sixty four finalists will be whittled down to one winner who will compete in Barcelona on 1 May.
A free trip to Spain is not all that is on offer for the Australian qualifier. If they work their way through Barcelona to become the interactive champion of the world, a cheque of US$20,000 will be sent their way, along with an invitation to attend the FIFA World Player Gala.
There a number of spots still available before the heats begin; so for those of you who think you can take a virtual 45-yard free kick better than Cristiano Ronaldo, register at www.FIFA.EASPORTS.com/footballexperience. If that sounds like too much work, there will be a few walk-up positions available on the day.
